Description
Celebrating tradtional Hawaiian folklore the Masters of Hawaiian Music are some of the island's most dynamic musicians. Regular guest artists Jess Peterson and Led Kaapana are featured on Hawaii's Renaissance Man, George Kahumoku's renowned Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar series© on Maui, and on his Grammy award-winning CDs. These Masters return to the South Broadway Cultural Center to share the delightful experience of kī-hō‘alu (slack key guitar)— a distinct style of open tunings, 'ukulele, and Hawaiian vocals. AMP Concerts now has two additonal pre-show events to get you into the Hawaiian Spirit! A 2-hour ukulele and slack key guitar workshop with George Kahumoku Jr. and Jeff Peterson at South Broadway Cultural Center at 3 p.m. As well as a free pre-show hula lesson from Ha'aheo O Hawai'i from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Ha'aheo O Hawai'i will also be dancing several hulas during the show.
Make sure to stop by and support the Youth students from the Polynesian dance school Ka Lā Kapu who will also be performing in the show and selling ribbon leis to raise money for the Hawai`i Community Foundation's Maui Strong fund and their school.
